WE’RE HAVING A BABY! How We Found Out I’m Pregnant

WE'RE HAVING A BABY! How We Found Out I'm Pregnant

I’M PREGNANT! Baby Armbruster (woah) is due in November and we couldn’t be more excited to share the news! The last 3+ months have been a rollercoaster of not wanting to get too excited too early, keeping the secret, being SUPER sick and barely getting out of bed for 6 weeks straight (which is why I’ve been absent online). With that being said, we couldn’t be happier to be out of my first trimester and FINALLY share this!

WE'RE HAVING A BABY! How We Found Out I'm Pregnant

Have you noticed that every single person that announces they’re pregnant says “I can’t believe it, it doesn’t feel real.” I thought that was just the cliche, go-to thing to say but now that it’s my own reality, that really is EXACTLY how it feels. Even if you’re trying (which we were), it’s unbelievable. Am I really going to believe this little piece of $6 plastic that’s telling me a human is growing inside my body? Yup!

Let’s rewind a bit…

⤹ Remember this blog post below from back in February?

Little did I know, I had gotten pregnant about a week before I published this post and I found out two weeks later!

THE DAY WE FOUND OUT: March 5, 2020

(3 weeks and 2 days, we later learned)

On a Thursday evening after work, I got up off the couch to go take a shower and as I stood up, I noticed that my boobs hurt a lot more than they usually ever do before I start my period or something. So on my walk to the bathroom, I figured I might as well take a test since I had to pee anyway. We’d been trying to get pregnant for a few months and I’d taken a few tests along the way already, so I took another one of those cheap test strip ones that I had a ton of. I didn’t really expect a yes or no, I just did it to do it. Only a minute or less into the test, I saw a second line already start to appear. I was surprised, but instantly started smiling. For whatever reason, when I did finally get that second line I’d been waiting for, I didn’t think it would appear that quickly on the test.

I immediately walked into our office where Justin was playing video games, while smiling and laughing, and asked him if he was playing with anyone (in case they could hear me) and said “so I just took a test… and a second line is starting to appear.”

We went back to the bathroom together, watched it develop and sure enough, it was POSITIVE! I felt this exciting rush of “wow, my body really DID that! WE did that!” We decided to run to the store to get a digital one for a second confirmation. We drove to Kroger with Lucia in tow. I waited in the car with her while he ran in and it took him quick a while to fine the tests. While he was checking out, the cashier asked him “is this wanted or unwanted?” Uhh… yikes. Who asks that…? When he replied with “wanted,” the cashier and the people behind him in line congratulated him.

We went back home, took the test and written across the screen was “positive.” We did it!

Growing your family is such an exciting feeling. I’ve dreamed of being a mom since I was a little girl and I feel incredibly blessed and thankful that it’s becoming a reality. On the rare occasion that I almost forget that I’m pregnant (which doesn’t happen very often thanks to lots of morning sickness), I think about it and am instantly overwhelmed with so much joy. Knowing everything that has to go right for a person to even get pregnant is such a peaceful reminder that this is meant to be, especially in this time of uncertainty in the world. This is the start of a new chapter for us and I’m so happy to have a partner like Justin to experience it with! I can’t wait to see him become a dad and add even more love to our household and lives. A mini us?! How crazy! We’re sooo happy!

As to all of you, whether you’ve been around since the start of my blog 4.5 years ago or just started reading, thank you for following along with me and my life. Just like many of my other new beginnings, I’m excited to share this chapter with you all along the way with plenty of more posts to come soon — I’ve pre-written a few during my time away!

Little beeb: we can’t wait to meet you!
