Life Update: April 2020

Hi everyone! I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I’ve taken a bit of a hiatus from my blog and social media these past couple of weeks because life is just weird right now. With social distancing and stay-at-home orders, my 9-5 office job has turned into a fully work-from-home job with me spending all day in my PJs or sweats with no makeup, no bra, unbrushed hair and my butt glued to the couch or bed. I haven’t put a full face of makeup on in three weeks, which is very unlike me. Anyway, let’s catch up!

What’s stopped me from posting lately is I really don’t want to talk about the virus. I want to serve as an escape from that, as the news outlets have it more than covered. But at the same time, it seems like that’s all life is right now and I find it difficult to refocus on anything else. With life on a total pause, my creativity is as well. That being said, I’d love any requests you have for content. I think getting back to “normal” on here would be a beneficial distraction for each of us during this crazy time.

I will say though that I’m very grateful to have Justin home with me (he’s a teacher and schools are officially closed for the remainder of the school year and are doing e-learning instead) every day or I, along with many of you I’m sure, would be ripping my hair out right now. Working from home is fine, but being restricted on what you can do and where you can go outside of work time is a whole new normal. Having someone to interact with all day (along with a cute puppy) makes it a lot easier! I’m VERY grateful for both of them.

In other news, since we don’t know how long this is going to last, I want to prepare to have an enjoyable summer at home by finishing up our backyard. I’d like to get some outdoor furniture and extend our back “patio” area. Where do you recommend getting outdoor furniture? I don’t want to spend a ton of money (everything is so expensive!), but I’d like something that will last us for a few years at least. I’m thinking enough seating for four people and a little coffee table that’s durable with a dog running around. Also, stuff that’s easy to clean is a must!

Along with that, I would also like to get better organized during this time, especially in our pantry/laundry room and under our sinks. I like organizing, but I really don’t have the proper bins and containers right now to spruce these areas up — so I need to order some! I’ve been putting it off because I have no clue how many I’m going to need, so I need to sit down and figure that out. Where do you recommend getting this stuff from? Amazon?

We started watching Ozark this week, and fun fact, I saw the first episode being filmed (the Chicago street scene where Jason Bateman is driving around, gets out of the car and you know what falls out of the sky) back in August 2016 when I was in the city buying my wedding dress! We were walking around looking for a place to grab food and saw a lot of commotion going on, so we stopped at a restaurant directly in front of where they were filming and stayed there for hours watching them. The restaurant had these cool outdoor swings as seats instead of typical chairs. Let me tell ya, they filmed that simple car scene more times than I could count. Jason Bateman walked in front of us a few times and it was a pretty cool experience! So if you watch it, you may see me blurred out in the background (along with tons of other people). 😉

That about covers it! Thanks for catching up with me and I hope you all, along with your family and friends, are staying safe and healthy during this uncertain time. Stay positive!
