Review: Wild One Dog Collar

Review: Wild One Dog Collar

I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect collar for Lucia pretty much since the day we got her. Does that make me a crazy dog lady? Absolutely. We got her in sort of a rush (read all about that story here), so we grabbed a random collar at Petco minutes after picking her up from Craigslist people knowing I’d eventually take the time to pick a different one out later. We ended up getting her one from Wild One, which some may consider a “luxury” dog brand. If you’re in the market, keep reading for a full review!

Review: Wild One Dog Collar

First of all, spending more than $20 on a dog collar is a new world for me. Now that I have my own dog (outside of family dogs growing up), I fully understand and agree that investing a bit more money in a durable collar for your pet is a better investment in the long run. I’d rather buy one $40 collar that’ll last than a bunch of $10-20 collars over the next few years, you know?

Anyway, I started scouring Instagram (where I’m finding myself doing more and more shopping these days) for cool doggie brands and came across several that caught my eye:

For me, the most important thing was to find one that was comfortable for Lucia and easy to clean. She loves going to my parents’ house and running around in the woods with my family dogs, so getting one that was washable and/or wipe-able was a necessity — with wipe-able being the preferred option so I wouldn’t have to throw it in the wash all the time.

After debating on colors and styles for weeks (I’m sure my fellow psychos can relate), I ordered the cutest mustard, leather, embroidered, bohemian one from Sunday Isle first, was so excited about it, got it in the mail and it was way too bulky on her. I think the goal was for it to have an over-sized look, but it was just too big for her frame and wasn’t very flexible. I sent it back and decided to go with my next choice, which was a blush one from Wild One.

This one was a bit less expensive than the other one and is made of that more flexible silicone-esque material that I originally wanted. They come in a few colors, but there aren’t as many options as there are on a lot of other sites — however, I think the available shades are good.

When it arrived, it came in a cute little pouch with a free white tennis ball with their logo on it, which was such a nice surprise! As soon as I took it out of the bag, I thought “ok, THIS is what I’ve been looking for!” It’s so silky soft, lightweight, flexible and the cutest color. The medium size fits Lucia perfectly and she was instantly really comfortable in it and didn’t scratch at it like she sometimes does with other collars. The tag/leash ring is coated, which I really like and I find that it gives it a more elevated look. You know… for a dog.

Now I think she’s the cutest thing ever in pink! We couldn’t stop calling her a princess for days after because of it (lol). To sum this up, I highly recommend Wild One collars and I think we’ll upgrade to one of their matching leashes at some point too. The quality is great, the packaging was amazing and the fact that they sent a toy with it really sealed the deal for me.

Happy shopping!
