Home Decor Update: Cactus Silk Pillow Dupes, Tassels, Wooden Beads + More

Happy Tuesday, everyone! I surveyed my Instagram followers asking what they like seeing the most on my blog, and a majority voted for home content. Lucky for me, that’s been my favorite thing to share lately too! Today I wanted to do a home decor update on some additions I’ve picked up over the last couple months, how I’ve styled them and where you can buy them. Sit back, relax and I hope you enjoy the inspo!

CACTUS SILK PILLOW DUPE

These have the same look as the gorgeous (and pricey) cactus silk pillows for only $19.99 at Target! Cactus silk ones usually run for $60 and up, and that’s usually without inserts, which you have to buy separately. Needless to say, this $20 pricepoint is a huge steal. These particular ones are from the Opalhouse line and are blush, super comfy, perfectly full and great quality. I ordered these online without seeing them in person, and I’m very happy with the product. These would look great on a couch, bed, chair or even a bench. I also think it’s cute to stack pillows up next to full-length mirrors too.

DIY TASSELS

I made a bunch of these for our Christmas tree this year knowing they would double as regular decor throughout the year after the holidays. They’re really quick, easy and inexpensive to make and I find that they really add a lot of fun detail to anywhere you put them. I love hanging them on our doorknobs and on my wooden bead garland (also leftover from Christmas, which I’ll talk more about in a sec). I went with yarn in light pink, a warm brown, beige and a light peach from JoAnn Fabrics to sprinkle throughout our home. This is a great opportunity to reinforce a color scheme in your space too. Someone asked me to do an IGTV video on how to make them, so I may do that soon!

WOODEN BEAD GARLAND

Life Update: January 2020

Also leftover from our Christmas tree, I have two long strands of wooden beads from JoAnn’s that have been so fun to style. I draped one over each of our floor-length mirrors: one in our living room and one in our bedroom. I strung two small tassels on the one in our living room for a little extra something. Alternatively, these would be great to wrap around a vase, hang on a headboard or lay across a mantle. There really is so much you can do with these, so if you get bored with them in one spot, you can move them around and use them for different things to change things up.

GOLD/MUSTARD THROW BLANKET

Once again, Opalhouse has come through! I saw a few people talk about this blanket online and when I heard it was only $8, I was SOLD. This is the best blanket for the price and it comes in several other really cute colors as well. I love the furry pom pom detail on the corners and it makes for the perfect decor throw, as well as a functional blanket that you’ll actually want to cuddle up with. I sleep with it pretty much every night! I’m thinking about getting a second one for our living room since I love it so much. Highly recommend!

PINK VASE + BOHO BOOK

With home decor, I find that it’s all about having the perfect balance between large, functional pieces and small details. These, for instance, are some of those smaller pieces that help add interest and tie everything together. Both the vase and book are from HomeGoods and I love how they look together on our bedroom dresser. I tucked a strand of pampas grass inside the vase to add some height and texture, and I think the book underneath is the perfect finishing touch. This is a great way to style a surface without taking up too much room since the items are stacked!
