Our Baby Shower
We celebrated the upcoming arrival of our little one at our baby shower this weekend! This is an event I’d dreamed of for years and we couldn’t have asked for a better day. With just over 8 weeks until my due date, my pregnancy is flying by and getting to celebrate the addition to our family with loved ones was so special. Keep scrolling and reading for photos/details from our day!
I chose to have the shower two months before my due date, which I’m glad I did because I’m getting slower by the week. 😂 We decided to have it at our house as it’s a central location between both of our families and we wanted it to be pretty low key. I honestly recommend doing it at your own house if you can because it made the day super easy. In addition to being in the comfort of our own home, we didn’t have to factor in drive time, and once everybody left and we all cleaned up, we got to go inside and immediately crash on the couch — plus we never really throw events at our house, so that made it fun!
We did it open house style outdoors to be safe with COVID. The weather ended up being absolutely perfect: sunny, blue skies with not a single cloud and just under 70 degrees. It felt like the first fall day of the season. We followed up with a “virtual shower” the next day for long-distance family and friends who wanted to come but couldn’t, which was a unique experience (lol). I’ve never hosted any type of virtual gathering like that, but it was so nice to see and hear from everybody, show them our nursery and say thank you.
Anyway, back to the in-person shower. My two must-haves were Blondie’s Cookies and a balloon arch. Justin and my mom blew up all 100 balloons (they wouldn’t let me blow up a single one) and we assembled the arch the night before. The kit we used was great and I recommend it! Only one or two ballons popped while being blown up, so they were really nice quality and it was easy to put together — it just took time! For as inexpensive as it was, it really tied everything together and made it feel like a party.
As you can see, we went with a peachy pink color scheme with various decorations we ordered from Amazon or got at party city: tassels, pom-pom things hanging from the tree and tent, balloons, coordinating napkins, etc. My mom also ended up ordering the tent from Amazon because it was cheaper than renting one and we can use it for future events too!
HUGE thanks to my mom for all of her time and energy that went into planning and setting this up, Caitlin for snapping tons of pics so I didn’t have to worry about it, friends and family who attended, sent gifts and/or well wishes, and helped tear down. We’re so grateful to have so many people in our life that already love our baby girl. See you soon, little one! Mom and Dad will show you these pics one day and say “that’s you in there.”
P.S. I’ve started using LIKEtoKNOWit after avoiding it for the last year or two. You can follow me and shop my posts there, as well as on the new Shop page on my blog. The dress I wore to my shower is linked here! My boots are from Franco Sarto and my cardigan is from Free People, which I can’t find links for at the moment.
