Nursery Update: Rug, Shelves, Rocker & More
Hi everyone! I’m back with another nursery update and I’m so excited to share our new additions with you guys. Our nursery is 90% done now and we only need to order a couple more things to complete it for the arrival of our little one in about three months. With that being said, here’s everything we’ve added!
First, if you need to catch up, here are my previous nursery posts:
Rug
I’M. OBSESSED. WITH. THIS. RUG. If you read my first nursery inspiration post, you know this is the rug I wanted all along and I was devasted to learn that it was on backorder in the size we needed until December. In my experience, rugs are key for tying a room together and using as a palette for everything else you buy, so I knew I had to move on and find a different one. I ordered my second choice and the day I got the notification that it was going to be delivered, I wandered over to check on the status on the original rug (which I’d been doing periodically for months) and it was BACK IN STOCK! I jumped on it and immediately ordered it. I ended up having to sell Option 2 on Facebook Marketplace because the company didn’t accept full returns. We sold it in less than a week and I’m so happy it all ended up working out! I love that it’s nice and soft for baby girl to crawl around on.
Ikea shelves (shown in the first image)
Getting these shelves was a bit of a task. I checked online to make sure they were in stock at our local Ikea before venturing over there, and to our frustration (we hate the neverending maze that is Ikea), they were out of stock after we wandered around for what felt like forever. However, you can pay a bit more and get the Ikea ones on Amazon Prime, which is what we ended up doing and it was worth every penny to me! We hung them above the dresser to display little knick-knacks and such.
Accordion rack
We got this accordion rack from Amazon as well. What I love so much about these is that you can adjust how much space you want it to take up on your wall depending on the room/location you’re working with. This makes it super versatile with where you can place it in your space. I plan to hang her little bows on here and maybe some slings or something!
Bassinet mattress, cover and sheet
Though this will technically be in our bedroom instead of the nursery, I wanted to include it in this update anyway! This was a bit more complicated because we needed a custom size, which was tough to find online. I checked Etsy first, but we ended up finding a site called aBaby.com that worked great for us! You provide the desired size, thickness, shape and a template if you’d like and they make it for you with easy cover + sheet add-on’s if you’d like to purchase those as well. It arrived in a reasonable amount of time considering it’s a custom item and it’s the perfect fit for our bassinet. Highly recommend!
Print above crib
I knew I wanted a pretty beach/ocean print early on in the design process. I find these to be so relaxing and calming, which is exactly the vibe we’re going for in our baby’s nursery — and this is why you’ll find these types of prints throughout our house. This is a screenshot of it from Society6’s website so you can see it a bit better! Here’s the link for the picture frame and you can shop the print here.
Dresser decor: book and vase
LOVE this combo! I got this Surf Shack book from Amazon and this terracotta vase from At Home to go on top of the dresser. This book is my aesthetic to a T and I love anything terracotta, and the colors of these two items pair so well with the colors in the rug and the blues in the ocean print.
Rocker
BOY did this rocker take a long time to come in! I think it was ordered in early June and it just got here this week… but it was worth the wait! I knew I wanted something cream that would be minimal and cozy, and this one is amazing for our space. It’s nice and wide with a decently high back, and the fabric feels so nice and expensive. I see myself spending a lot of time here!
Snuggle Me Organic
A Snuggle Me baby lounger is one of the top baby items I wanted, so since I also got this recently (thanks mom & dad!), I figured I’d include it here since it’ll obviously be in her nursery full-time for the time being. We got it in the color Sugar Plum, which is a light warm/neutral pink.
Changing basket (shown in the first image)
My sweet friend Kassie got this changing basket for us and it’s so cute! It completes the dresser area perfectly. It’s great quality and it came with two mats, which will be awesome for swapping out when they get dirty.
Other things we’ve bought or have been gifted:
- Crib mattress
- Mobile (waiting for it to come in the mail)
- Rattan flower mirror (HomeGoods)
Still need to get:
- Two more prints and frames
- Small ottoman for the rocker
- Full-length mirror to hang on the wall — I’m thinking one with multiple wood tones in it to tie everything together. This isn’t an immediate need, just something I’ll be keeping an eye out for!
- Baby hangers to hang outfits on shelves — I’m thinking brass wire ones
__________
As you can see, we’re almost done and it feels so good! I could not be more in love with this room and I just sit in it now, watching shows on my laptop and daydreaming about when our daughter will be here. Since there are only a couple more items we need to complete the room, my next nursery post will be the final tour where I’ll show the room from all angles and include links to shop everything. Thanks so much for reading and I’ll see you in my next post!
I love the rug you chose!
