Nursery Update: Decor, Drawer Organization & Toys

Welcome back to the blog! I’m excited to be sharing a nursery update with you all, as it’s been my biggest obsession lately. I’ve been having so much fun embracing my nesting mode by collecting things for her room, from decor to organizational stuff and toys. This post will be an update on the latest additions, where we got everything and what’s next on our list!

Check out my nursery inspiration post with a mood board + sharing the vibe we’re going for here.

Nursery Update: Decor, Drawer Organization & Toys

I was really excited to get my hands on these pillows from Moi Mili on Etsy because I’ve been lusting over a shell one for so long! They’re the perfect addition to the nursery with their outdoor/beachy vibe + pink and mustard color scheme, which happens to tie in perfectly with the Cuddle & Kind doll (we have the large one) my mom got for the baby. When she starts using the crib, I’ll move them to the rocker, which will look cute as well. My parents also bought her the lamb, which is so special to me because I had a stuffed lamb I slept with every night when I was little.

How precious are these?! My mom got this pacifier clip and teethers from Target for the baby and I think they’re the cutest things ever. Collecting items she’ll one day hold and use is seriously so surreal! For now, and maybe long term, I’m keeping them in this macrame bin from At Home. I’d never been there before, but I went for the first time over the weekend and got this, the vase you see behind it and a lamp. Lots of good deals there and the store is HUGE!

Another item on my inspiration board that I was on the hunt for was a rattan side table for the rocker. When I posted my inspo pic on Instagram, one of you commented saying you saw some at TJ Maxx (thank you!), so I went to my local one and picked this one up! It came in two different sizes, but I got the smaller of the two so it takes up less space and will likely be a better height for our low-sitting rocker that we’re waiting to be shipped. I think it will be great to sit drinks and snacks on while I’m breastfeeding, prop my computer on to watch shows if I need some entertainment, etc. I think it’ll be perfect!

Something I’ve been antsy to do is to get the dresser drawers prepped with organization bins. Since baby clothes (and everything baby) is so small, I didn’t want things floating around in there without bins to help keep it all together. The ones I initially was going to get at IKEA were too big, so I ended up finding these ones at Target. You guys have no idea how pumped I am to fill all these little containers up! I would link them, but I can’t find them online.

I haven’t snapped a picture of it yet, but we got this lamp over the weekend as well! I thought it was a great price and fits the theme of the room well.

Other things we’ve bought:

  • Picture frame for above the crib
  • White crib sheets
  • Shelves for above the dresser — waiting to be delivered
  • Accordion shelf — waiting to be delivered
  • Decorative book for dresser — waiting to be delivered
  • Area rug — coming early August
  • Rocker — also coming in August

Still need to get:

  • Full-length mirror to hang on wall
  • Crib mattress
  • Changing basket
  • Three prints and two more frames
  • Mobile
  • Possibly an ottoman, if there’s room
  • Baby hangers to hang outfits on shelves — I’m thinking brass wire ones

Those are the latest additions to the nursery! Though I’m taking my time with it, I want to get a majority of it done sooner rather than later while I’m feeling good and have the energy to do so. It’s such a fun passion project and it helps ease my nesting mind! I hope you enjoyed this post and if you’re looking for more pregnancy and baby content, check out my other blog posts here and follow me on Instagram (@abbysaylor) for even more frequent updates.
