Review: Aerie Play Real Me High Waisted 7/8 Leggings

Hi everyone — welcome back to the blog! I wanted to dedicate an entire post to the leggings I’ve been wearing non-stop because they’re THAT good. As leggings have become a constant in many of our wardrobes over the years, there are certain qualities that separate great leggings from bad ones. SIZING + COLOR

One of the biggest perks about these leggings is the sizing options available. They come in XXS all the way to XXL as well as short, regular and long lengths. I’m instantly on board for any pants that come in longs since everything always ends up being unintentionally cropped on me. I ordered my usual size that I wear in American Eagle jeans, which is a 4 Long, and they fit perfectly! I recommend going with your usual size, or sizing down if you’re typically a 3, 5, 7, etc.

I have them in True Black, but they also come in Burgundy Ivy, Dusty Sage and Steel Blue. Personally, I’d wear any of the colors and the black is a nice dark black that doesn’t fade in the wash. They look lighter on me in the photos than they actually are because of how I edit.

FIT + FEEL

For me, I want leggings to cling in all the right places, not get baggy in the knees or sag throughout the day, and almost feel like a second skin. I want everything to feel held in place without feeling suffocated, and I’ve had my fair share of failed legging purchases throughout the years — plenty of which I wish I wouldn’t have bought because they were a complete waste of money.

Now, how do these leggings compare? I’m not joking when I say these leggings are the softest piece of clothing I’ve ever worn. They’re shockingly silky and feel so smooth and seamless on. They’re thin without being see-through, which impresses me so much because I really didn’t think it was possible to have both at this price point (which I’ll get into later on). Every thin pair of leggings that I’ve ever had always show way too much through the fabric and end up tearing anyway. Not these!

They’re not kidding when they say these are high-waisted. The top can literally meet my sports bra if I want them too, which is great for those who don’t to show too much skin. The waist is fitted without feeling restricting and I love that the overall thickness and fit allows me to pair them with pretty much anything. I can easily wear these with just a sports bra or any type of shirt that doesn’t cover my butt confidently knowing nothing is going to be showing if I bend over throughout the day. Also, if you struggle with cameltoe, I haven’t had an issue with that in these!

As for the length, 7/8 essentially means they’ll stop right above your ankle, which is perfect for pairing with any type of footwear. They’re definitely not capri/cropped length and are basically a full-length look. Whether you plan to lounge, workout and or wear these leggings day-to-day, they work well for everything. They’re breathable for working out, but don’t look too “athleisure” to pair with casual outfits too if that’s your vibe.

PRICE

Currently, these retail for $23.97 (they’re usually marked $39.95 according to their website, but they’re 40% OFF TODAY) and I’d willingly pay more for them. They’re seriously worth every penny! This is an amazing deal for a high-quality pair of leggings, especially considering Spanx leggings (which I also love) are $100. At this price, I think they’re worth giving a try if you’re at all curious about them and I’m confident you’ll love them as much as I do.
