My 2020 Vision Board

My 2020 Vision Board

Welcome back to the blog! I’m excited to share my 2020 vision board with you today. My cousin, Caitlin, and I got together at my house last weekend and made them for the first time and it was honestly so fun. I realized that I haven’t done a cut and paste project like this since high school, and when it’s not for a grade, it’s honestly so calming and therapeutic. We had music playing, chatted and ate Taco Bell while we cut out images and words that represent who we want to be, what we want to do and what we hope happens for us this year. Though vision boards can seem like a silly concept, I’ve found it really beneficial to sit down and figure out what my goals actually are and visually document them for daily reference. Keep reading for some reasons why I think you should make a vision board + details on what’s on mine!

I used to be a BIG collage girl, and after doing this project, I think I still am. The inside of my bedroom door growing up was completely covered with one giant collage of magazine clippings (including lots of pics of my celebrity crushes), which eventually made its way to my closet where I wallpapered the entire inside. I’d watch videos or listen to music while I did it, so this recent activity was very reminiscent of that for me… almost a full-circle feeling since I’m in a completely different place in my life now than I was as a young teen, yet sitting down to seemingly do the same thing.

*Side note — it was SO HARD to take pictures of my vision board and make it look the same in photos as it does in person, be in focus and legible, but I did my best. 😂

WHY MAKE ONE?

It’s common to write down goals at the beginning of the year, but I think we’re all a little guilty of not referring back to them throughout the year. I usually write these kinds of things in a blog post or my notes app and literally never look at it again until the year ends. Alternatively, displaying goals and aspirations in something like a vision board that you see every single day is a visual representation of what you want to do and where you want to be, allowing you to frame each day with those things in mind to stay inspired and motivated. If you believe in manifesting, posting the things you want on your wall as if they’re already yours is a great way to bring them to fruition. With that being said, I think it’s the perfect addition to your bedroom or bathroom where you can see it every day while you’re getting ready, keeping your biggest desires in focus.

WHAT YOU NEED

  • Frame, poster board, bulletin board or whatever you want to put it on — we put ours in frames from Target, which I find makes them look more like art pieces/home decor.
  • Printed pictures and/or magazines — I printed pretty much all of mine from Pinterest, while Caitlin did all magazine clippings.
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick

WHAT’S ON MINE

Greece
I’ve wanted to go to Greece for the longest time, and my mom and I really want to make it happen this year. It will likely be a girls’ trip, which will be so fun. If you have any tips for planning a trip there or recommendations for places to stay and/or things to do, please let me know! This would both of our first times in Europe, so any tips or suggestions you have would be appreciated. Blame Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants for this one.

Quotes + buzzwords
I included a few phrases that I really resonate with and want to embody. 2019 was filled with a lot of stress, worry and uncertainty, and I want to shed those anxieties and really focus on inner peace, reignite my passions and create. Those are some of the things that make me the happiest, therefore I know filling 2020 with them will bring me joy.

Bathroom remodel
We crossed a majority of the house projects we want to do off our list, but in addition to doing our landscaping and finishing our backyard a bit more, I really want to redo our bathrooms. We’d like to do a walk-in shower in our master at some point with new flooring, sinks, hardware, etc. in both. I have a specific vision in mind and I can’t wait to make it come to life! We’ll be reasonable with our time and money on this one, so the goal is to do it little by little.

Blog
My blog is always something I want to put new, strengthened focus on each year since it’s one of my biggest loves. I don’t have any specific goals for it, but I want to continue to utilize it as a form of self-expression to document my life and things I enjoy, while also trying new things. Most importantly, I want to continue to have fun with it and feel connected to it. It’s such a happy place for me and feels like home.

Healthy living
I am not the healthiest, but hey, at least I admit it! As someone who loves healthy food, I have no excuse not to consume more of it. As for drinking more water and being more active… those are a bit more of a challenge for me. I want to think of food as fuel and really fill my body with stuff that’s going to give me energy and help me be my best self every day. More specifically and personally, I want to gain back the weight I lost after going off birth control (+ maybe a little more), which I’ve been trying to do for the last few months and have been unsuccessful at. It’s been hard and nothing I’ve been doing has worked. Because of this, my body image hasn’t been the best and I’m hoping to make positive changes in this area this year.

Baby
Last but not least, Justin and I really want to have a baby or get pregnant this year. This is something I really want and waiting for it to happen can be a tough process. I was hoping to be pregnant by the end of February, and I suppose there is still time (lol), but I will happily accept it whenever the time comes. Though it can be difficult to remember sometimes, everything happens when it’s supposed to. I’m so excited for when that day comes!

__________

That’s everything on my 2020 vision board! What are some of your goals or things you want to embody this year? Let me know in the comments. Thank you for reading & lets make this year a great one!
