Gender Reveal: Baby #2 Is…

I’m so excited to finally be sharing this will you all! Here’s all the details behind what we thought we were having, when we found out and how we feel about the news!

We found out so much earlier this time at around 14 weeks. We opted out of doing genetic testing with Clay, so with her, we found out from the 20-week ultrasound. We decided to do genetic testing this time (which screens for several things, including gender) because I was having a lot of anxiety about the baby’s health (no particular reason, I wasn’t having complications or anything — I just was worried). I initially didn’t even feel ready yet to know the gender for some reason, but the second my OBGYN called and said they had the test results for me, I was DYING to know. Knowing that other people knew (my doctor, the nurse who called, the lab, etc.) and I didn’t made me so ready to hear it.

I told them I would call them back about the gender since Justin wasn’t home at the time. I left them a message when he got home and they called us back later to let us know what we were having.

OUR PREDICTIONS

Neither of us had any gut feeling this time (Justin was sure Clay was a girl last time and I sorta thought she was a boy). I initially kind of thought boy right when I found out I was pregnant this time, then I switched to probably girl, and Justin and I both flipped to boy the day our test results came back.

GIRL!!!!!!

We both thought the nurse was about to say boy, so we were surprised! We had talked about our thoughts again prior to finding out the news and we both agreed we couldn’t see ourselves having a boy for some reason (I think it’s common for people to not be able to picture having the opposite gender than what they already have), but we’d be happy to experience it, and that Clay would be really sweet with a little sister. I’ve always wanted to have at least two girls so I can experience sisters, since I never had one.

I’m absolutely DYING at the thought of TWO sets of pig tails running around our house. I’m so excited to give Clay a lifelong friend and I hope they have an incredible bond!
