Clay’s First Halloween: Baby Britney Spears Costume

Baby Britney Spears Costume

When it came to deciding what Clay would be for her first halloween, there was no doubt in my mind that it had to be Britney Spears. In case you don’t keep up with me on Instagram, Clay has been obsessed with Britney’s music since she was around 3 months old. I bought her a Free Britney onesie and made some silly videos with her wearing it for my Instagram story and she soon fell in love with watching those videos of herself, which have a medley of Britney songs playing over the clips. She stops what she’s doing (even if she’s balling her eyes out), smiles and dances when we play it (you can watch her on my Free Britney highlight on Instagram). It’s the cutest (and kinda the weirdest) thing.

PIGTAIL HEADPIECE DIY

Since Clay doesn’t have enough hair to recreate Britney’s iconic pink puffball pigtails, my mom made her some! If your baby won’t rip off headbands the second you put them on (unlike Clay), this is a great alternative! A nude headband is the least noticeable option and I quickly photoshopped it out of a couple of these photos.

To make the headpiece, my mom bought blonde Barbies from the dollar store, braided their hair, cut it off and hot glued it to pink pom poms. We secured the ends with elastics and tied hot pink ribbon into bows on top. I then used an elastic bow headband that Clay already had, turned it around so the bow wouldn’t be visible on the back of her head and I lightly sewed through the pom poms, looping them around the headband so they would be easy to cut off without damaging the headband later. The pig tails off the headband a million times while trying to get one decent photo (lol), so I would definitely recommend not doing what I did and hot gluing them to a headband you don’t care about instead.

I think her costume turned out cute and it couldn’t be more fitting for her. I wonder what she’ll end up being next year?!

Happy Halloween, everyone!
