All About Our Prints From Society6
Now, for the post you’ve all been waiting for… I’m sharing the details of our new prints from Society6! After knowing of the company for years, this was my first time ever purchasing from them, and I must say I’ve found a new home decor shop staple. Keep reading for my review of Society6, links to the exact prints and Amazon frames we purchased, how to know which ones to pair together, tips for hanging them, an amazing deal on these that’s going on right now + more!
Buying art pieces for our home has been on my to-do list for months. I had a few left over from out apartment, but I wanted to get new ones for the some key areas in our home. All the ones I found in stores weren’t the vibe I was looking for or were more than I wanted to spend for a single piece. I had travel photography in my mind and after sifting through Society6’s website, I stumbled across the artist that created all the prints you see in this post and I fell head over heels!
Here are some quick details:
- Society6 sells a variety of print products, but the ones I got are called “art prints” on their website.
- All of the prints I ordered are in the large size, 20″ x 28″ (two of them are 21″ x 28″ because that’s what size they came in instead, so I just trimmed the edges a bit to fit the frames).
- All are from the same artist, Roost Fine Art. I’m obsessed!
LIVING ROOM PRINTS
I wanted a bit more of a minimal design for the living room since we have a large patterned rug and a big pink chair that really pop on their own, and I LOVE how these three look together! The peach tones in #1 tie in the sandy and pinky tones in 2 and 3, #2 provides a longer distance perceptive via a scenic landscape shot (I suggest throwing one of these in the mix if you’re going for a similar look), and #3 adds the cropped in texture. Each of these flow nicely with our other decor and they really complete the room beautifully. I seriously can’t stop staring at them!
HALLWAY PRINTS
Since there isn’t anything in our hallway other than a teal runner rug, I wanted to liven it up with some color and scenic shots while still keeping it minimal since it is just a hallway, after all. The brightest print of the 6 I purchased is the 2nd one above, so I knew I wanted that one for the hallway. To balance it out, I selected the two Greece images that both have pink flowers that make the whole image set flow. The white buildings (and white frames, of course) keep it all bright and airy. Now we’re basically stepping into Greece when we walk past these! 😉 The travel photography shots give our house an almost resort-like inspiring vibe, and I love it. They’re so pretty to look at and I’m so glad I waited it out to find pieces I really love & that Justin loves too!
OUR FRAMES
Society6 sells framed prints as well, but you can save some money by ordering them from Amazon instead. I did a quick search and ended up going with the ones marked as Amazon’s Choice, Art To Frames 20×28 inch satin white picture frames. I’m really happy with them and I highly recommend these! They’re lightweight, sleek and easy to hang. 10/10.
STYLING TIPS
Not sure what prints you should pair together? If you have access to Photoshop or any type of app that allows you to collage/arrange images together, I suggest screenshotting all the prints you like and arranging them together digitally before you order them. This allows you to see which ones flow together and balance well, which really helped me in my decision process.
There are some design techniques to consider when selecting the order that you’re hanging your prints if you’re ordering multiple for one wall. I suggest separating prints that are similar with other ones in-between them, like images of walls, ocean views, etc. Consider breaking up colors as well.
Another technique is to make sure your images are opening towards each other, rather than closing each other off. I know this sounds confusing, but I’ll try to explain it. If you refer back to my hallway prints, you can see the ocean scene in the 3rd print opens toward the 2nd print with the water, while the right outside edge closes off the photo with the building walls. Does that make sense? If your image set isn’t looking quite right, incorporate this technique and it will instantly flow and look so much better! The perfect mix of variety with fluidity/similarity is what creates the perfect balance.
HANGING TIPS
These particular frames come with hanging kits with a wire you’ll be installing to hang it by. Our ceilings are 8 feet high and we hung the top of the prints approximately 18 inches from the ceiling. We marked this height with a laser level, and I can’t recommend those things enough — they’re so helpful! We then hung them 3.5-4 inches apart.
Justin and I used a different method than usual this time and it made the process so much easier! Since the frames are so lightweight, we used a push pin to guess and check where we would need to hang them based on the wire length of each frame (this length will likely vary). This allowed us to shift each one as many times as we needed without having to make new nail holes in the wall. Once we got them lined up perfectly with push pins, we were able to take them out and put the nails in instead. It was so easy and painless!
DISCOUNT
I’m so sad I missed this, but all art prints from Society6 are 40% OFF through midnight tonight, PST. That’s an AMAZING deal, so if you’ve been thinking about ordering some soon, do it now! With this kind of discount, I might just have to order more sooner rather than later. 😉 I’m already eyeing a few more from this artist for our bedroom and office.
