Baby Clothes: My Style + Favorite Shops I've Found

Hi friends! I’ve been spending a lot of time gathering the things baby girl will need (hello, nesting) and I’m already feeling like I’m way behind, even though I’m just over halfway through my pregnancy (23 weeks). I know it’s a bit irrational and I’m not alone in this either! Anyway, I thought it would be fun to do a post on all of my favorite baby clothing finds, what style I like and my favorite shops I’ve come across. This can serve as inspiration for other soon-to-be mothers, current mothers and those shopping for a baby in their life!

Baby Clothes: My Style + Favorite Shops I've Found

While my baby is young and obviously has no preference in what she wears, I feel like that’s my opportunity to have the most fun with her wardrobe and dress her in whatever I want, you know?! When I found out I was pregnant, the thought of going to baby stores to pick out the first few pieces of clothing for her was so new and exciting to me. However, I quickly found out that most local stores don’t carry things that I like. Partly due to the fact that it’s summertime, everything was super bright, neon, loud and just not my taste.

What I like:

  • Solids, minimal/subtle patterns
  • Muted pastel and dusty colors
    • Mauve, blush, mustard, robin’s egg blue, sage green, burnt orange, cream, peach, lavender, beige/oatmeal, etc.
    • No black or grey — we have a white dog, so hair shows up far too well on black and I just don’t like grey!
  • Turbans, simplistic bows and hats
  • No glitter or anything super frilly

For me, I like much softer and muted colors in very simplistic designs and patterns (if patterns at all). I think clothes being comfortable and practical for her is what’s most important, so I really gravitate toward the simple cotton/ribbed onesies and two-piece sets in colors that don’t hurt your eyes. Less is more! Another benefit is that when things are more muted, you can mix and match pieces much easier and get so much more bang for your buck.

Favorite shops:

Though in-person stores were disappointing, there are SO many cute online shops that have exactly what I’m looking for! Keep in mind I haven’t purchased from a majority of these, so I can’t speak on quality, shipping, etc. This list is based on style and overall selection.

If you have any other favorite shops that you think I’d love, let me know! I find it hard to go crazy with baby clothes (obviously, since I’ve bought hardly anything) because I just don’t know how big our baby will be, how much clothing she’ll actually need, and so on. I don’t want to have way too much, but I also don’t want to be scrambling to do laundry all the time because we don’t have enough, you know? I’m sure we’ll figure it out. Thanks so much for reading & check back for another new post soon!
