Life Update: February 2018
Welcome back to the blog! Today’s post is another life update catching you guys up on what I’ve been up to and what the next couple months hold for me.
We’ve been busy to say the least! Justin has a lot of late nights while coaching swimming at the middle school where he teaches and I’ve been working pretty much nonstop, although my to-do list never seems like it gets fully crossed off — does anybody else have this problem?
With the end of our apartment lease coming up in May, Justin and I are thinking about what we want to do next. Although moving can be exciting, it’s a pain and a financial decision that can be stressful if you let it be. Though we’ll be staying in the southern Indianapolis-to-Franklin region, our options likely include renewing our apartment lease for a third year, moving to a new apartment, renting a house or buying a house. We hadn’t considered buying a house anytime soon until recently, but that’s something we’re currently exploring and are realizing may actually be the most financially beneficial option for us. We’re focusing on not getting our hearts set on anything too quickly, but I’d be lying if I said we weren’t excited to see where this next chapter may go! This next move could be a big step for us, so we’re putting careful thought into it.
I told you guys I had taken on a new full-time job in my last life update post a few months back — I’m still really loving it! I can’t remember if I told you what I do, but I’m working as a digital designer for a large corporation in downtown Indy. I couldn’t be happier with where I’m at. I really enjoy coming into work every day, and if you don’t feel that way where you’re at, I encourage all of you to pursue that feeling in your next job. It’s the best and I feel so sad for my past self thinking that it wasn’t possible to find a job you love employed by someone other than yourself. I was in such a different place this time last year. Thinking about the months and months I spent trudging into work and wishing I was anywhere but there, I have so much sympathy for my old self. As someone who has been through it, it’s not true! Seek where your heart is happy.
As you may have noticed, I’ve jumped back into YouTube! This is something I started off strong with in 2017 and had hit the ground running, but fell off the wagon with the busyness of life: wedding planning, changing jobs, etc. Right now I’m on a filming schedule of every other Saturday with new content going up every Monday. I’m able to do this by filming at least two videos biweekly so I don’t fall behind, and it’s working out pretty well for me so far! I had fallen off the wagon due to scheduling issues before and just not being able to find time, so it’s been way easier this time around now that I’ve got a good routine down. You can subscribe and watch all of my videos here. What videos would you like to see from me? I’d appreciate any requests you have!
Mine and Justin’s 4-year dating anniversary was a couple weekends back. It’s such a weird feeling when you feel like you’ve known someone your whole life and can’t remember your life before they became such a huge part of it. Four years isn’t that long in the grand scheme of things, but it really feels more like twice that. With that being said, I’m so excited for what’s to come for us. Weirdly enough, you don’t really think about life on a timeline anymore once you’ve found your person, yet you start to gain clarity on when new changes feel right for the two of you. It’s hard to explain, but life is so much different with someone by your side and I wouldn’t trade our love/relationship for the world.
Something cool that has happened recently is I’m featured in Narcity’s “30 Indianapolis Girls Who Are Absolutely Killing It On Instagram Right Now.” It’s so rewarding to be recognized because Instagram is soooo much harder than it looks! It takes a lot of time and effort to upkeep a high-quality feed consistently, so I’m honored to be featured among so many other talented women in Indy. Instagram is something I prioritize for the growth and success of my blog, so I’m so grateful for the support!
What’s new with you? You can read my previous Life Update posts here — thanks for catching up with me! Another new post will be up on Friday, as per usual. 🙂
Good luck on the possible house hunt, Abby!
