Clay’s Playhouse (Amazon Little Dove Play Tent Review)

Clay's Playhouse (Amazon Little Dove Play Tent Review)

Welcome to Clay’s house! We bought our one-year-old this playhouse for Christmas and it’s everything (and more) that I hoped it would be! This post will serve as my review of it, as well as inspo for how we styled it and how we’re best utilizing it in our home.

We got it on Amazon Prime, so it arrived super quick. It was pretty simple to put together and the quality is great. It kind of has a canvas look to it, but it’s polyester, durable and easy to clean if/when needed. The curtains can be gathered to the side with velcro straps that are attached to the structure. It came with a string of battery-powered star lights, as well as a floor mat that is slide-resistant, which are both nice bonuses!

It’s bigger than I imagined, but that’s because I couldn’t really visualize it, even with knowing the dimensions beforehand. Justin, Lucia (our dog), Clay and I were all able to fit in it, and both Justin and I can stand on our knees in it without our heads touching the top, so it’s roomy — but in the best way! We don’t have a playroom and Clay’s room is too small for anything like this, so we’re keeping it in our living room, which was always the plan anyway before we assembled it. Since it will be taking a permanent residence in our main living area, I LOVE that it’s neutral and seamlessly blends in with our walls and decor. This helps make it more of an addition to our space, rather than an eyesore if it were neon pink or something.

Since it’s neutral, you can decorate it and make it fun with pillows and blankets on the inside, little furniture, and banners and lights on the outside. I’m thinking that I’d like to decorate it for different holidays and seasons (picture a heart banner for Valentine’s Day, flowers for spring, etc.). Our current decorations include wooden beads (they’re the two garlands from our Christmas tree that I tried together and wrapped around the roof), her Clay high chair banner from her first birthday party and the DIY pom poms I made for our tree (here’s my tutorial on those).

As for how Clay is liking it… she absolutely loves it! The little fold-out couch that we also got her for Christmas fits perfectly in it too. We keep catching her sitting on it in there “reading” her book. 🥺 She laughs so hard when we play peek-a-boo through the windows (as do I) and as an added bonus, it’s a really great place to put her toys that she’s been playing with lately so they’re not out in the open. Worth every penny!

Below is the exact playhouse and couch we have, as well as some different styles that would be cute as well depending on your needs and the size of your space. I think this stuff is great for imaginative play and something your child will use for years to come! It’s the perfect wow-factor gift for Christmas morning too. 😊
