DIY Pom Pom Christmas Ornaments

DIY Pom Pom Christmas Ornaments

Christmas is officially in full swing at our house! I’ve been putting yarn tassels that I made on our tree for a few years now, but this year I decided to make some pom poms to add to the mix. I thought they’d be the perfect addition to replace our ball ornaments for a bit of a different look, plus homemade ornaments feel a little more special. They were honestly so much fun to make and I love how they turned out! It’s the perfect boho vibe and they had so much cool texture. Below is a tutorial on how to make them with links to all the yarn and tools I used!

They’re easy to make once you get a hang of the process, which you’ll figure out after you make the first pom pom. I recommend super sharp scissors for the cutting step — I used some random scissors that weren’t very sharp and trying to cut all the layers made my hands hurt. These pom poms would also be really cute to hang on stockings, add to garland or use for gift decorations too.

Tip: If you want to make more random and intermixed ones like I did, I found that it’s best to use the same colors on each side of the pom pom, but do them in a completely different order to avoid making it symmetrical. Make some color layers thicker than others and switch up what you’re adding to make them each super unique.

If you end up making these, tag me in your photos or DM me a pic — I’d love to see what you create!
