Review: Discounted Tom Ford Sunglasses from Smart Buy Glasses

I received my first pair of designer sunglasses this week from Smart Buy Glasses and decided to do a full, detailed and honest review for those of you who may be interested in purchasing the Tom Ford ones that I got, or are considering buying a different pair from their website. Keep reading for all my thoughts on the packaging, quality, fit and price of the Tom Ford Alex-02 FT0541 56X sunglasses.
WHAT’S SMART BUY GLASSES?
Upon being contacted by Smart Buy Glasses, I hadn’t heard much about the company. Essentially, they’re an interactive and personalized alternative for purchasing prescription lenses, designer eyewear and contact lenses online. They strive to provide all of the top brands at the best prices, so you’ll likely find a lot of your favorite designers at much more affordable price points. They also give back, donating over $1,000,000 of eyewear to people who are visually-impaired in less privileged areas around the globe, which is pretty awesome!
As you’ll see below, I chose the Tom Ford Alex-02 FT0541 56X with a tortoise frame and blue lenses.
PACKAGING + WHAT IT COMES WITH
I was so impressed with the packaging as soon as I opened the box. The Tom Ford Alex-02 FT0541 56X glasses come with:
- Tom Ford velvet case
- Tom Ford cleaning towel
- Tom Ford certification/care instructions (I believe)
- Tom Ford keepsake box
The shipping box was also wrapped with bubble wrap and the glasses themselves were in protective plastic, but I didn’t take a picture of that — very nice and secure!
PRICE, SHIPPING + RETURNS
According to their website, these sunglasses are discounted from $379 down to $265. If you don’t want to pay the full amount at once, they offer alternative options, one being payment in three installments ($88.33/monthly for this particular pair). Shipping is free (ships within 11-15 working days), and comes with 100-day returns and 24 months of warranty.
QUALITY, SIZE + FIT
These feel like a million bucks — not too heavy, but still the right amount of weight that they feel like extremely high quality. The glasses also say “Tom Ford” on the top corner of the left lens. They have a bit of an oversized frame, which I really like for designer glasses, but still a totally reasonable size. As for fit, I’m particular when it comes to how they feel on because anything that’s too tight on my head gives me an migraine. I was instantly psyched when I put these on because they fit perfectly, without being too loose to the point that they’d fall off my face either!
WOULD I BUY AGAIN?
Absolutely, without a doubt! I think there’s a common misconception that buying designer goods from any source other than directly from the designer means there is going to be a downgrade in quality or experience, but that’s certainly not the case here. You’re getting the whole designer experience for a fraction of the cost, and as someone who’s on a budget, there’s nothing better than that. They truly have a style for everyone, men and women included and they’d make a great gift — so if you have a birthday, anniversary or graduation coming up, I suggest purchasing through this site!
