My Everyday Makeup Routine
Hi friends! It’s been close to a year since I last updated you guys on my makeup routine and the products I use to create a look that’s natural and glowy for everyday wear. Since I do wear makeup every single day, I like to keep things relatively light, matte and longlasting. Keep reading for the exact makeup products I use every single day, why I love them + links to shop each if you’re looking to update your beauty bag and try out some new things!
FYI: I’m not going to include my skincare in this post so this doesn’t get too bulky, but if you’d like to see that, let me know & I’ll do that next!
Skin
For foundation, I use No7 Stay Perfect (and have been for years) and it’s a staple for me! It’s medium coverage and I wear the shade Cool Vanilla if I have self-tanner on and Calico if I don’t. Something I do that’s a little bit different is mix it with NYX Liquid Illuminator. For each pump of foundation, I add 1/2-equal parts illuminator for some glow. I apply it with a damp Real Techniques sponge, followed by Maybelline FitMe concealer in the shade Fair Clair under my eyes, around my nose, my eyelids and on any blemishes. I set it by baking with NYX HD Loose Finishing Powder on a dry sponge and leave it on while I do my brows and eyes, then brush it off with a big powder brush afterward.
Brows
Brows are one of my favorite parts of my makeup routine because I have such an appreciation for them (lol). I feel like they truly make or break your makeup look and with a good brow, you really don’t need too much else to look “put together.” I’ve been using Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil for quite some time and I set it with NYX Control Freak Brow Gel. These products work super well together and allow me to create as full of a brow as I’d like.
Eyes
I apply all of my shadows with a big fluffy blending brush and blend, blend, blend! I always start with Urban Decay Primer Potion first since I have oily lids. I’ve been using the Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar palette since late last summer and have been loving it so much. Most often, I use a combo of Peanut Butter, Mousse and Truffled on my lids (and blended a bit under my lower lashline). I then blend a bit with Coconut Creme in my inner lid and Butter Pecan to highlight my brow bone. I then apply a thin line of Loreal liquid eyeliner, curl my lashes and apply Loreal Lash Paradise Mascara.
Bronzing, Contour + Blush
I use the ELF Blush and Bronzer Duo in St. Lucia (yet another St. Lucia reference in my life 🤪) because it’s inexpensive and buildable. This step really pulls the whole structure of my face together and I haven’t reached for another blush or bronzer in years.
Highlight
I go back in with the NYX Liquid Illuminator and apply it with a sponge to my cheekbones, brow bone, down the bridge of my nose and my cupid’s bow. This adds some extra glow to the highest points of my face and is a huge must-have for me. The look doesn’t feel complete without it!
Lips
I’m really gotten into lipstick over the last year and I feel like it’s totally changed my look. Since I’m naturally very fair, my lips tend to disappear when I have self-tanner on. Their natural color is too light for my darkened skin, so lipstick of some kind is often needed so I don’t look dead. My absolute favorite for the last few months has been Charlotte Tilbury’s Lip Liner and Matte Lipstick in Pillow Talk. It’s amazing! Sometimes I’ll add Becca Glow Gloss in Metamorphic Gold on top. Another lip color I use here and there is Tarte Salt Lyfe. Both of these lipsticks feel very comfortable and non-drying on, so I highly recommend them!
Setting Spray
I’ve used a couple setting sprays over the last year and like them both for different reasons. I feel like the Urban Decay All Nighter spray does a great job at making things last, but I feel like I go through the bottle pretty quick. Alternatively, I love Morphe’s because it’s a continuous mist and seems to last longer before I have to repurchase. If you have a drugstore one you love, let me know because I’d love to try some new ones that are a bit more affordable!
