Life Update: June 2020
Hey guys! Summer is in full swing and it’s been a couple months since I’ve caught up with you guys (aside from my pregnancy updates). Today I’ll be touching on our three year wedding anniversary, going back to work at the office, doing our landscaping and how my pregnancy is going at 17 weeks!
Our three year wedding anniversary is today and I can’t believe how fast time as flown by. I recently realized that Justin and I seem to make big steps about every three years in our relationship. We got married three years after we started dating and now we’re having a baby three years after we got married, and so on. At this rate, we’ll have our second baby in another three years, right?! 🤪 We’ll see about that. I’m working from home today, so he brought me flowers after he went to the gym this morning, we exchanged gifts, had cinnamon rolls for breakfast and we’re going to get cupcakes from our favorite bakery later. It’s weird to think we’ll have a baby with us on our next anniversary. I can’t wait to become parents with him!
I started going back to work at the office last week. I’ve been working nonstop from home throughout stay-at-home orders since mid-March, but we started transitioning to in-office work June 1 with a minimal schedule. Instead of working 8-5 Monday through Friday in-office like I used to, now I’m there 2-3 days a week from 10-4. To be honest, I was pretty nervous about going back to work because I’ve had the luxury of working from home during almost all of my pregnancy so far — which means I always had the option to lay down and work from my bed when needed, wear sweats, throw up in private, venture to the fridge every 30 minutes, have Justin by my side to help me all day every day, you name it. Even though I’m feeling MUCH better these days, the night before my first day back, I joked with Justin about it feeling like it was my first day at a new school or something. 🤣 I was scared of feeling sick at work (outside of the comfort zone I’ve been quarantined to for months, which is all I’ve ever known for pregnancy), but to my delight, it’s been just fine so far. It’s nice to get out of the house, even though I get pretty tired now when the afternoon rolls around.
Something else we did recently was our landscaping! This had gone untouched since we moved in because we had a rather big, open plot of mulch in front of our house with absolutely no clue what to do with it. My mom helped us (and by “us” I mean Justin because they wouldn’t let me do much) and it turned out so beautiful! I love it and it’s amazing how much it improved our home’s curb appeal. We get compliments on it from random people walking by every time we’re outside and I’m so happy with the plants we picked out. We’ve been very carefully and strategically watering them in hopes that they don’t die, so cross your fingers for us. 😂
As for my pregnancy, I’m 17 weeks as of yesterday and I feel like I’m in a really blissful period. I have a lot more energy and less discomfort overall, though maybe I’m just more used to it now. Aside from lower back pain when I wake up or sit down for too long, fatigue earlier in the day than normal, not sleeping very well, occasional nausea and some mild growing pains… all is well! I’m just so, so happy and grateful to be pregnant. Also, can we talk for a sec about how it seems like EVERYONE is pregnant right now?! Maybe every pregnant person feels this way, but so many people from back home, people I follow on Instagram and celebrities are currently pregnant. Since I don’t have any friends or family that are pregnant right now or have been anytime recently, it’s kind of fun to follow along with other people online that are on similar timelines as me — it’s like a little community! However, it’s KILLING me to see everyone doing gender reveals while we have to wait to find out ours in the next few weeks. I’m dying to know so I can stop making assumptions and going back and forth on what I think he/she is!
That’s an update on me! If you have any blog post requests, please send them my way! I’m working on a “Baby Names I Love But Won’t Be Using” post that I’m excited to share soon!
