Friday Favorites
Happy Friday! I think it's been a long week for many of us, so I couldn't be happier that the weekend is only a few hours away. Today I'm going to be sharing with you a few things that have been on my mind lately, including what I've been loving and what I've been up to: Christmas prep, selecting a wedding cake, my favorite Netflix movies + more!
I absolutely cannot wait to start decorating for Christmas! I'm never too interested in decorating for any holiday other than Christmas, so naturally it's my favorite. This will be my first time decorating a place of my own with Justin and I couldn't be more pumped for it! I've been coming up with my own ideas in combination with pulling some inspiration online, and I'm happy to have found the perfect look for us. It will be so fun to start our own Christmas traditions together (we already shamelessly wear matching Pajamas every year). I picked up a diamond ring ornament from Kohls the other day to represent our engagement, and I want to continue to do this for each milestone in our lives. Justin and I picked up a flocked tree last weekend (the story on that is to come in a future post, but you can see my tweet about it here) and I plan to decorate it with white and mixed metals (expect WAY too many photos after Thanksgiving). I bought a copper "Merry Christmas" banner last year after the holidays passed and I'm excited to FINALLY be able to put it up! I'll be doing blog posts on my Christmas decorations, including an entire post dedicated to boho Christmas decor.
I've been loving researching wedding cakes this week! I reached out to a baker I stumbled across on Instagram and I'm excited to work with her to make my dream cake come to life. I'm going to incorporate succulent and flower cupcakes as well for a variety of flavor options on the dessert table. I have the biggest sweet tooth and have always been into fancy cakes, so this is super fun for me! I'm currently talking to a makeup artist and florist as well, so look out for more details on that soon.
Justin and I have been exploring some new movies on Netflix lately and some of our favorites have been Hush and Amber Alert. Hush is such a thriller! It's about a deaf and mute woman who is attacked by a serial killer in her house and is unable to seek help. It's sooooo good! We were on the edge of our seats the whole time and the fact that she is deaf and mute added such an intense element to the story, being unable to scream or hear her attacker coming. Amber Alert is about a guy who essentially goes crazy and holds a school bus full of kids hostage in order to get ransom money to help his sick mother get treatment. This movie is full of twists and has the biggest surprise ending, so I highly recommend watching it!
With all the election mayhem going on (*pounds head against desk*), here's a little pick-me-up "Good Vibes" phone wallpaper for you. Who else is completely obsessed with words spelled out in flowers?! Save this to your phone, set it as your background, and we're officially matching. ;) As for my weekend plans, I'm going to continue working on wedding planning AND I'm meeting my first fellow blogger tomorrow! We have a fun collaboration coming your way within the next few weeks that I can't wait to share with you. A huge favorite for me is that I'm finally curating my perfect niche in the blogging community and I'm so happy to have received a lot of positive feedback lately! One of the best "compliments" I can get is when someone who has seen my blog asks if I blog full-time — to me, that means my blog showcases a certain level of professionalism, relationship building with my readers, and marketable content, which is what I truly strive for. Little do these people know, I maintain a full-time job at a PR agency while busting my butt to grow my blog and make it the best it can be. I dream of the day I can transition to part-time, then blogging full-time with a business of my own on the side. Thank you so much for reading and I hope you all have the best weekend! Leave me a comment and let me know what you've been loving lately and what your weekend plans are! :)
I love that phone wallpaper! So pretty and positive and that’s just what we all need these days I think! I LOVE a flocked tree! It is going to look so pretty!
Hi Laura! I completely agree — I love the wallpaper too and I think it’s going to be on my phone for awhile! 🙂 Frocked trees are my favorite and I love how natural looking they are… well, as natural as a fake, snow-dusted tree can be indoors. Thank you so much for reading and commenting!
Oh my those cakes. You really are such a sweet tooth so I cannot wait to see what the dessert table at your wedding looks like. Great post Abigail!!
Thank you, Kassie! I just received an email confirmation from my baker today, so we’re ready to roll on a cake and cupcakes! And yes, I’ve always had the biggest sweet tooth so I’m nearly drooling just thinking about it! 😉
