Friday Favorites

Hello Friday! I hope you’ve all had a great week amidst all the drama (i.e. the college admission fraud scandal — freaking YIKES 🤭 I’ve followed Olivia Jade for years and this is so shocking to me!) and are looking forward to fun or relaxing plans this weekend. This week was far less stressful for me, which I’m so grateful for! Today I wanted to share some of my recent favorites including the Adnan Syed documentary, skincare products, activities to do in Indy + more!

To catch you up a bit before we dive into this, Justin’s swim coaching season ended this week, so I’m excited to have more time with him at home! I love that he loves what he does, but it’s always nice to have him back home more often. We have a lot of house projects ahead of us now that we have more time, so I’m excited to get those rolling again. Putting the knobs on our kitchen cabinets this week has been a little nightmarish, so look forward to that story… 😂. Anyway, on to my favorites!

The Case Against Adnan Syed Documentary
If you’ve listened to the Serial podcast, you’re going to be excited about this one! There is a 4-part docu-series on the case on HBO, and the first episode was released last Sunday. It basically outlines the murder of Adnan’s ex-girlfriend in the 90s and his charge in the crime, where many believe he was wrongly convicted. This case is messy and a lot of things are unclear, even after all this investigation. If you haven’t listened to the podcast yet, I recommend doing that first because I think you’ll get so much enjoyment out of listening to that prior to watching this series. It’s one of the best podcasts I’ve ever listened to and I know you’ll love it! If you want to watch the series, right now you can do a free one-week subscription, which is what I did. Otherwise, it’s currently $14.99 a month.

Average Fashion Blogger on Instagram
I’ve been following this girl for quite some time now and have shared her stuff on my Instagram story a few times, but I wanted to highlight her here as well. She basically jokingly mocks bloggers and influencers, and her videos seriously make me laugh out loud until I cry. There is so much nonsense and overall CRINGE in the blogging/”influencing” industry that it’s nauseating, so seeing her bring it to light in such a funny way kills me every time. Honestly, I think we can all benefit from making fun of ourselves sometimes. 😜 If you haven’t already, go check out her account, especially this video!

Penn & Beech Candle Co.
We celebrated my cousin’s birthday last weekend, and I had the idea to go to Penn & Beech, where you can make your own custom candles, reed diffusers and fragrances. You get to smell an entire wall of unique scents, jot down your favorites on a clipboard, they help you come up with a good combo and you make everything yourself. I chose rose petals, coconut and champagne & named it J after Justin, because I honestly couldn’t think of anything else — but it’s cute! It was seriously so much fun! None of us had ever done anything like that before, so it was such a fun bonding experience. Whether you have friends or family in town or are just looking for something fun to do over the weekend, I can’t recommend this place enough!

Mario Badescu Drying Lotion
I’ve had this on my list of things to buy and try for YEARS, but every time I’d come across it at the store, I didn’t currently have any active breakouts and always decided to just buy it later (but I’d get one a few days after, of course). I finally got it a few weeks ago and I really like it! Essentially, you dip a Q-tip into the pink liquid at the bottom of the bottle (the clear and pink liquids are supposed to be separated and not mixed, so don’t shake the bottle!) and apply it to blemishes before bed. I think it really helps, especially for drying out problem spots. My mom used it when she stayed the night at our house a few weeks ago and she loved it too!

Rain Boots
I’ve never felt any urge to purchase rain boots, but when I came across these at TJ Maxx for only $20, I had to take advantage of it. I love the Chelsea boot style of these and the neutral color, allowing me to pair them with pretty much anything. I wore them on a super rainy day this week and fell in love! They’re perfect for wet days and serve as a great transition shoe for spring. Check out your local TJ Maxx’s selection for a good deal or browse some of my other favorites below! I have the Capelli ones in grey, but I’m OBSESSED with the cheetah ones too!

Those are all the things I’ve been into lately! What are some of your current favorites? I’d love some crime documentary recommendations, especially on HBO now that I’m going to be trying to make various free accounts for the next month or so (lol). Thanks so much for visiting my blog today and have a fun weekend!
