Friday Favorites

Another week, another Friday — let’s talk FAVORITES! There have been a few things I’ve been really loving that I wanted to share with you all. Whether you’re looking for something to watch this weekend, new beauty products to try or podcasts to listen to, I’ve got you covered.

Charlotte Tilbury Lipstick + Pencil in Pillow Talk
This has my new favorite everyday lip color and I’m obsessed! I’d had it on my list to try for so long and I’m glad I finally picked it up. This is the first product I’ve ever tried from Charlotte Tilbury and I believe it’s their most popular one. Since I wear lipstick every day now (me 5 years ago would be shocked), finding a neutral shade that’s comfortable and lasts all day is important to me. I highly recommend this one and I suggest getting the bundle with the pencil and the lipstick.

 

BTK’s Daughter Speaks Out
I stumbled across this short documentary and found it so interesting. I feel like I know quite a bit about serial killers and I had heard of BTK, but didn’t know anything about him or his crimes. This interview is from his daughter’s point of view telling what it was like to be in the media when learning of her father’s secret life. She’s written a book on her experience as well and this documentary gives a look into something we often don’t think about when murders occur: the killer’s family, who are often victims too. Very interesting!

Also, the home security footage of Shannan Watts returning home from her trip the morning she was murdered (the last footage/sighting of her) was released/leaked this week — so eerie!

Cold Podcast
I’ve shared this on my Instagram story a few times, but this podcast is SO GOOD. I kept up with the Susan Powell case back in high school and I knew all the general things that happened, but this podcast goes into further detail. The case is so crazy and tragic, it’s almost unbelievable. It’s scary to think how much weird stuff can be going on in one family and it makes you wonder how well you actually know people in your life. If you’re unfamiliar with this case, it will have a lot of surprising twists and turns! The podcast is fast-paced enough that you won’t get bored, but in enough detail that you really get to know the personalities and behaviors of everyone involved.

No7 Stay Perfect Foundation with NYX Illuminator
I’ve been mixing my foundation with the NYX liquid illuminator for the last week or so and it creates the prettiest glow. I mix it everywhere but my forehead, where I put foundation only without the highlight because that’s where I get the oiliest. Both are fairly inexpensive and can be purchased at Target!

Ariana Grande Thank U, Next Album
To be honest, I wasn’t much of an Ariana fan (not for any particular reason) until last year. She’s kind of changed her sound and now she’s right up my alley! This album includes some of my favorite music to sing along to now when I’m driving or doing things around the house. My favorites from the album are “Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored, ” “Fake Smile,” and “In My Head.” I know you’ve probably been hearing about this album everywhere, but I’ve been enjoying it so much that I had to include it!

A few other favorites:

• Ponytails — they’re really in right now and I’ll take any excuse to pull my hair out of my face!
• Unplugging — I came home from work the other day and forced myself to be off my phone and laptop, and I truly felt like a new woman. I set my computer to do an update and plugged my phone in another room while I cleaned the house, and it was truly so refreshing.
• Smoothies — we’ve been using our blender a lot lately for smoothies during or after dinner and I’ve been loving it! We use orange juice and frozen fruit from Kroger, which is usually a bag of mixed berries, strawberries and bananas, and pineapple and mango.
