Clay’s Strawberry Themed 3rd Birthday Party

Clay's Strawberry Themed 3rd Birthday Party

My first baby is officially 3 years old! This is the first year that she’s been old enough to choose her own party theme and she confidently selected a strawberry party with the following specifications:

  • Pink strawberry cake with sprinkles
  • For gifts: pink bike, pink helmet and a pink necklace

My response? Your wish is my command, miss! Here’s how it turned out.

As I always do, I had so much fun planning and decorating for her party. I was sticking to an even smaller budget than usual this year and I’m so happy with the cute items I was able to find for great prices and how it all came together. I linked everything below!

This party did come with a few mishaps… first, Lucia (our dog) rushed to the door when our first guests arrived and knocked over our heavy wooden bench in our entry. Though she didn’t yelp or anything, I guess it fell on her tail and cut it because a few minutes later, we noticed there was blood EVERYWHERE. The floor, walls, furniture, people’s clothes (including Clay’s birthday dress), etc. had blood splatter on it. It looked like a crime scene. And the worst part was that it happened more than once. We put her outside for a bit until we thought it was done bleeding, then she unfortunately came back in the house and soaked everything again.

To add to the drama, our camera stopped working at some point during the party while people were taking pictures of us and no one noticed for a while, so a ton of pictures that I thought were being captured weren’t being taken (including family photos, posed shots with Clay, etc.). We all had to fiddle with the camera for a while to get it working again, which it luckily did before we cut into the cake. This is a reminder to all (especially myself) that you gotta roll with the punches and a lot of things are simply out of your control, no matter how much prep and pre-planning you do. 😅

Moving on… thank you to those who helped make this day so special for our big 3-year-old! Lastly, here are some things that I want to remember about Clay at this age:

  • She loves to instruct us on how to dance and sing, and we have to copy her over and over until she deems it exactly right
  • Loves the Jonas Brothers, specifically “What A Man Gotta Do”
  • Big accessories girl (slippers, Cookie Monster sunglasses, jewelry, etc.)
  • Loves smoothies, French fries and chips
  • Always wants to play with the group of older girls (6, 7-year-olds) in our neighborhood
  • Loves to sit at my vanity and pretend to put on makeup with my brushes
