Scottie’s Butterfly Themed First Birthday Party

I love throwing a birthday party! First birthdays are exciting and much anticipated, but it’s also such a milestone for us parents too. The first year is hard and I vividly remember countless nights where we were up at all hours trying to get our baby to go to sleep that I thought “if we can just make it to her first birthday…” and I’m proud to report that we survived!

I’m not sure how I thought of or settled on a butterfly theme this time around, but I knew from the start that I wanted purple to be everywhere because it’s just her color. She has two large sunset prints in her room that are lavender, peach and pink tones, so going with that color scheme felt right as well.

We wanted to choose cake flavors that we hadn’t had at previous parties, so we went with lemon for the big cake and raspberry for the small one. They were beautiful and delicious, as always — Taylor Made Cakery always kills it!

Anyway, I mostly wanted to share this as inspiration for anyone else planning a similar themed party, and to also simply document such a special day. Can’t believe she’s a toddler now! Links to shop everything are at the bottom of this post.

INSPIRATION
