Second Trimester Update (Baby #2)
As of today, I’m officially in my third trimester! It’s sort of a scary feeling to be this far along in what feels like a blink of an eye. If I wasn’t already, I’m now definitely in the thick of *operation: get my ducks in a row* with everything, from nursery prep to business prep, for when May comes along. Here’s how my second trimester was:
How far along are you now?
I’m currently 28 weeks. At my anatomy scan ultrasound, my doctor decided to move my due ahead since I was continuing to measure 6 days behind. My new due date is approximately May 15! I have my glucose test this week.
Weight gain?
About 20 lbs so far.
Maternity clothes?
Oh yes. I bit the bullet and bought several new maternity items from Storq (my fave), and even though it was expensive (I never spend money on clothes), I’m so glad I did it! I linked everything I bought from them here.
Sleep?
Ugh, not great. Some nights are worse than others. Lots of tossing, turning, sweating, weird dreams and chugging water in the middle of the night.
Best moment this trimester?
Finding out the gender, feeling kicks and seeing movement!
Weird pregnancy moment?
Lactating, I guess… though it’s not “weird” to me since I’m very much used to it at this point. But it is crazy to see my body already preparing itself and leaking again!
Baby movement?
Yes! I started feeling her move at 16 weeks, Justin felt her at 18 weeks and we saw movement on the outside at 19 weeks. She moves all the time now!
Food cravings?
I’ve been loving apples (just like my first pregnancy), milk, Red Lobster cheddar bay biscuits, chips with French onion dip, and certain mac and cheeses.
Anything making you queasy?
Still gagging every time I brush my teeth, which is greattttttt for my oral health.
Favorite products?
I’ve been liking the Summer Fridays Babymoon Belly Balm and all of my Storq maternity clothes.
Gender?
We found out at 15 weeks that we’re having a GIRL! It feels so right and we’re really excited.
Name picked out?
I think so! We’re probably 90% sure we’re going with a particular first name (with some back up options in mind) and we’re still discussing middle names. We’ve had a much easier time agreeing on a first name this time than we did previously!
Nursery?
I’m working on it and I’m not quite as far along with it as I’d like to be — especially now that I’m in my third trimester, I know my energy and physical comfort is about to tank. I’ve had issues with things being out of stock, so that has caused some delays. Preparing the nursery is one of my favorite parts of pregnancy, so I look forward to getting more of this done. So far we have a crib, lamp, baskets and some wall decor with a dresser, rug and mirror on the way. Once the dresser gets here, I’ll be pulling out all of Clay’s old baby clothes to sort through and see what I want to use!
Something you’re looking forward to?
Taking more maternity pictures! I love looking back at those and celebrating my body, what it’s doing and the way it looks in the present moment.
How has this second trimester differed from your first pregnancy?
I think it’s been pretty similar aside from this baby feeling much lower than Clay, and I’m more tired since I chase a toddler around all day and spend a lot more time on my feet. I also have the same groin-area nerve pain that I had in my first pregnancy, but it’s somewhat intermittent. Regardless, I got sad the other night thinking about not being pregnant anymore. I don’t know if this will be my last pregnancy or not, so I’m trying my best to soak it up. 🫶🏻
I can’t believe that the next time I’ll be doing one of these, it will be the VERY end of my pregnancy or after I give birth… CRAZY. The second trimester is always such a sweet spot of pregnancy, so I’m a little sad to see it go, but also looking forward to what’s ahead, meeting our little girl and introducing her to Clay. Look out for nursery updates soon here and on my Instagram!
