House Update #4: Painted Cabinets + New Decor
Hey everyone! Welcome back to the blog & I hope you all had a great holiday! Justin and I have added lots of things to the house since my last update, so keeping reading to see all of the new elements, where I bought them and what I’m most excited to decorate next!
DINING AREA
I talked about this table and chairs in my last update, but I added this beige, faux cowhide rug underneath and I’m OBSESSED! I’ve wanted one of these for so long and I think it’s such a cool piece. I decided to put it at an angle like this for a couple reasons: 1) because I found it looks so much better and more effortless, 2) because it’s on the smaller side and just a little bigger than the table, you can see more of it when it’s laid this way. Below are some other similar ones.
KITCHEN
As you can see, our kitchen cabinets are now painted! It took me a couple weeks to finish and lots of time spent crawling around on the floor and countertops, but they turned out exactly how I imagined — if not better! I’ll do a full blog post on the before and after of the kitchen once it’s done along with my DIY tips, but in the meantime, I wanted to show you this rug.
I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect runner since we moved in and decided to use our previous one in the hallway instead. I check Salvage & Co’s Facebook page multiple times a day (my new addiction, truly) to see all of their deals and new arrivals, and I instantly fell in love when I saw this one. The color combination is so me and it ties in the blues and pinks in the living room with the kitchen cabinets so perfectly.
As for the upcoming/future updates for the kitchen, we need to order nobs/pulls for the drawers and cabinets, eventually replace the countertops and update some of the appliances (stove and refrigerator).
LIVING ROOM
We’re loving this new rattan table from Target. After getting our new couch, I was unsure whether we should get a coffee table or an ottoman. I’ve had my eyes on this particular table for a while and when I saw only one left at my local Target, I jumped on it. I wasn’t sure at first if it would work as a coffee table in our living room, but it actually does and it looks amazing! It’s light, so it’s super easy to slide around to different areas of the space depending on what we’re using it for. As a huge rattan lover, this further enhances the bohemian vibe of our house.
GUEST BATHROOM
The guest bathroom is coming together nicely! I went with my initial vision of a black/cream mudcloth shower curtain, and then decided use a pop of mustard with this rug to warm it up. I could go on and on about how much I love these basket trashcans (we have one in our master bathroom as well!) because they’re equally cute as they are functional. They blend seamlessly into your decor and don’t even look like trashcans. I LOVE the lid as well so you don’t have to look at your trash! Our master bathroom has some updates as well that I’ll share soon. In the meantime, you can sneak a peek on my Home Instagram story highlight.
There are more updates throughout the house, but I’ll end this post here and talk about those in my next one! It’s such a good feeling to transform your house into what you envision and seeing hard work make such a positive difference. I absolutely love our house and feel so excited and inspired by it every single day. Next up is replacing light fixtures, painting the bathroom vanities, finding a new TV stand and selecting prints for throughout the house.
I hope you enjoyed this post and maybe got some ideas on ways to decorate your space or places to buy decor for your home. You can catch up on all of my house blog posts here. Thanks for reading and enjoy your weekend!
