Review: Designer Handbag Rental with Carousel Bags (+ DISCOUNT CODE)
Welcome back to the blog! Today’s post is all about a new Indianapolis-based business I truly love and stand behind: Carousel Bags, the world’s first independent handbag subscription. As you may know if you’re a regular reader of mine, I’m all about affordability and looking like a million bucks on a budget, and designer handbag rental services like Carousel make that possible. Today I’m sharing my review of the company, why you should use their services + my discount code you can use to receive your second month of rental FOR FREE!
WHAT IS CAROUSEL BAGS?
If you keep up with me on Instagram, you know I went to an event for Carousel Bags a couple months back (as shown above) where I got to meet the owner, gets my hands on some of the products and learn more about the company along with some other local bloggers. It’s a women-owned online business that ships nationally.
Carousel Bags helps people find their way to amazing independent designers and lifestyle-driven bags. Their bags come from all over the world and are selected based on their high-quality materials, so you know your money is worth it. Basically how it works is you can select a bag from their website and rent it for $29 a month (about a dollar a day, if you look at it that way) until you own it, if you wish to keep it. This is such a great option if you want the opportunity to test out a designer bag before you buy it, or you like to have a new bag every month or two for different events.
As for my thoughts on the bags, I’m super impressed with the quality. I’ve only ever owned two designer bags in my lifetime (a Dooney & Bourke one from when I was younger and a Rebecca Minkoff one I still carry), so I didn’t have really have too many expectations going into the event. I was so happy to see that these bags are all super high quality and so unique, which is what I always strive for in a high end bag! I mean, what’s the point of getting a designer bag if it looks like something basic you can get from Forever 21 or something, right?
THE BAG I CHOSE
When you order from Carousel, the bag arrives neatly packed in a box inside a dust bag with a card included with information on the designer, which I thought was a really nice touch. I selected the Baby Bombshell by GG Maull and I’m obsessed. I haven’t owned a bucket bag in years, so I thought it was time to add one to my closet, and I love that this one is so versatile for year-round wear. The neutral shades allow me to pair it with just about any outfit combination and it holds everything I need, from my wallet and sunglasses to my small camera if needed.
The crossbody strap and handheld chain make it easy and comfortable to grab and wear on the go, plus the drawstring closure keeps all of items inside — not to mention the layered spikes on the sides had such a fun detail! This bag is so unique, which I personally love knowing I’m not going to find anything like it anywhere else since I like to add a little originality into all of my looks. It’s really well made too and has that nice soft feel that real leather has!
