Spanx Leggings Review: Are They Worth The Splurge?

Like I’m sure you may have as well, I’ve seen Spanx leggings (specifically the faux leather moto ones) all over Instagram. Since so many people seem to love them, I was dying to know what all the hype was about! I decided to finally bite the bullet and buy them, even though the $100+ price point is far more than I’ve ever spent on a pair of pants. Keep reading for my full review of the Spanx faux leather moto leggings including the fit, wearability, thickness, how to wash them & if they’re worth the splurge!

FIT + ARE THEY TRUE TO SIZE?

You guys, they are SO COMFY. They are relatively true to size, but I highly recommend sizing up. I usually wear a small in leggings, but after hearing they run small, I sized up to a medium and I’m so glad I did. They fit like a glove and everything feels sucked in and smooth when they’re on, especially with the high-waisted fit. For reference, I’m usually a 4-5 or a 25-26 in jeans. They’re likely going to feel a little snug as you’re squeezing into them, but trust me, they’re heaven once you get them on.

WEARABILTY + THICKNESS

These bad boys are thick and aren’t see through whatsoever, even when bending down, which seems to be a rarity in the leggings world. There’s nothing worse than wanting to throw on a pair of leggings to be comfortable, but not having a clean top to pair with it that’s long enough to cover your butt. You can honestly wear these with a normal cut shirt because absolutely nothing shows through these leggings!

These are designed with shaping technology as well, which is such a cool concept. Here’s a little more info about them that I pulled straight from their website:

  • The Slim is Built In™— contoured Power Waistband offers tummy shaping and a perky rear view!
  • Designed to hit at natural waist for great coverage and no muffin top
  • Center-seam free—no more camel toe!
  • Support Level 2: Shape – A Firm Hug
  • Body: 87% Nylon, 13% Spandex/Elastane with Polyurethane Coating. Lining: 80% Polyester, 20% Spandex/Elastane – Imported

HOW TO WASH THEM

Wash them in cold water (at least that’s what I do) and lay them flat to dry — don’t put them in the dryer. I think the description online says to hand wash them, but I haven’t had any issues washing them on a normal cycle, as long as it’s cold water. They dry pretty quickly so if you wash them right before bed, you can wear them out the next morning. I’ve washed mine a few times now and they look just as good as they did when I got them in the mail. No pilling or cracking either!

ARE THEY WORTH THE SPLURGE?

Though they’re pricey, if you’re a leggings lover and know that you’ll get tons of use out of them, they’re worth every penny. Another thing to consider is that these leggings will most likely replace every other pair of lower quality ones in your closet. I’ve always bought cheap ones here and there over the years and they inevitably end up tearing or stretching out, not to mention they’re usually a see-through as well. So if you think about all the money you’ve spent on a bunch of inexpensive ones over the last few years, you can instead spend that money on one amazing pair that’s long lasting and looks high-end on. I’ve linked some other Spanx styles below.

In conclusion, I highly recommend these leggings! I understand what all the hype is about and I’ll likely add a couple more pairs to my closet over the next few years. Thanks so much for reading & I hope this post was helpful! Enjoy your Friday and have a great weekend!
