Review: Biovène Black Peel-Off Mask

Hi friends! Face masks are a huge craze right now, and it’s a trend I stand behind because who doesn’t love self-care and clear skin?! In this post I’m testing out the Biovène Black Peel-Off Mask which, believe it or not, is my first ever peel-off mask! I was both excited and intrigued when they reached out to me because I love skincare so much and always enjoy testing out new products. Keep reading for my full review.

Biovène is a Barcelona-based Catalan professional cosmetics brand that features a range of cutting-edge makeup, face and body treatments.” They are cruelty-free and all of their products undergo strict clinical safety testing to ensure that each formula is safe and reliable.

According to their site, this mask is suitable for all skin types and is used to clear out environmental toxins, dirt and debris from under your skin to fight acne, oily skin, blackheads, clogged pores and blemishes. The natural extract calms and helps the skin to regain its natural moisture. It acts like a magnet, absorbing 100 – 200 times its weight in impurities (you can watch me talk about it a bit in my latest haul video here).

I have super sensitive skin, especially when it comes to peeling things off my face, like wax strips (I’m seriously red for HOURS and nearly break out in hives every time I get my eyebrows done), so I decided to only do half of my face this first time around in case I had a bad reaction. Though my skin didn’t react badly to the mask whatsoever (woo hoo!), I would recommend doing a test strip on a small section of your face to see how your skin reacts with the product, just to be safe.

I used a clean foundation brush to apply the mask all over the the right side of my face, avoiding my eye area. The mask is sticky, but applies super smoothly. You’ll want to make sure to lay it on generously thick (but not too much!) to ensure that you’ll be able to grab the edges to peel it off.

The mask is really cool and refreshing as you apply it and it dried within about 10 minutes or so! I applied it to Justin’s face too on his nose, forehead and upper cheek area to avoid his facial hair. Biovène recommends that you leave the mask on for 30 minutes, which is exactly what we did. The mask came off super smoothly and, I must admit, was a tad painful for me in a couple sensitive areas, which was mostly under my eye… but I pushed through!

Let me just say that peeling off face masks is SO FUN! My skin felt crazy smooth and healthy afterward and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole process. As gross as it may be, Justin and I could see residue of the impurities that the mask pulled out of our skin, which is such a satisfying feeling. We’ve tried pore strips in the past and haven’t had much luck, so we definitely prefer this black peel-off mask instead! We love it!

This mask retails for about $85 (3.3 ounces) on Biovène’s site (there’s a great Groupon code for it here) and comes with about 30 applications, which is really great! In conclusion, I highly recommend this face mask!
