Our First House: Master Bedroom Inspiration
Lately, I’ve been thinking about revamping our master bedroom. Justin and I have had the same bedroom decor for over three years since we moved into our first apartment together. Recently, I’ve realized our bedroom has become the clutter room and definitely one that leaves me feeling overwhelmed and uninspired because of it. It’s the room at the back of our house and one that guests don’t come into, so it’s easy to let it pile up with unwanted things. Keep reading for how I plan to upgrade our room a bit and switch out some things!
HERE’S WHAT WE’RE THINKING
The elements we’re planning to incorporate:
- Peachy tones
- Scenery prints
- Minimal greenery
- Lots of texture and coziness
- Light wood
Large print over our bed
I made a tassel wall hanging for above our bed back in college knowing it was something I really wanted for our first place. It was inexpensive and really fun to make, and I still love it, but I’m thinking it’s time to put it somewhere else in the house and swap it out for something new. I love travel photography, so I was thinking I’d like to swap it out for a big landscape print of the ocean or something scenic and pretty. I’ve yet to find a landscape print that we love that comes in a big enough size, so I think two large portrait ones would have the same effect. We’ll see! As I’ve shared before, we have several prints from this designer on Society6 and are OBSESSED with them — our next ones will likely be from him/her too! I plan to put four on the wall behind our door as well.
New decorative pillows
Pillows tend to get dingy after years of use when they can’t be washed, so ours are due to be swapped out anyway. I’d like to incorporate more peachy tones since those are my favorite colors, and I stumbled across these at World Market over the weekend and fell in LOVE. I’m planning on getting these exact ones!
Rug
We weren’t originally planning on putting a rug in our bedroom, but now that we have them in other spaces in our house, I think they make rooms feel so much comfier — which is obviously ideal for a bedroom! I’d love to add one if we find the right one at the right price. I know this will be much more of an “I’ll know it when I see it” kind of purchase, but of course I’d like something bohemian and cozy. I’ll be scoping out HomeGoods on a regular basis (as if I don’t already 😉)!
New dresser(s)?
I’m up in the air about this one because there’s nothing wrong with our current ones. Interestingly, they’re the dressers my brother and I used growing up, so to say that they’ve gotten their money’s worth would be a HUGE understatement! They’re tall dressers with six drawers each and lots of space, so I’m unsure if we’ll be able to find ones that aren’t crazy expensive but still hold the same amount of clothes. Below are a couple I found that I like the look of that aren’t bad price-wise. I’d love to hear any recommendations you guys have!
Additional decorative details
Some other things I’m considering are cream/white curtains, little well-styled knick-knacks here and there, maybe some more plants (fake of course since I can’t keep anything alive), a bench at the foot of the bed, etc. I’m liking the things linked below so far!
__________
That’s what we’re thinking so far! I hope you guys enjoy reading these posts as much as I love putting them together. These really do help me with the designing and buying process so much. It’s crazy to look back at these and see how similar our space ends up turning out, even when I’m unsure of the exact items I’m going to buy at the time I write it. I recommend doing the same when brainstorming your space (you can read all of those posts here). Anyway, thanks so much for reading & I’ll catch you in Wednesday’s post!
I love those decorative pillows and the whole ambiance you’re going for!
Thank you, Hayden! I can’t wait to buy them and get started on the room! 😊😍
This is seriously my kind of decor!
