Our Cozy Bohemian Christmas Decor

Christmas is the only holiday I decorate for and I pride myself on having minimal, cohesive decor that’s festive while still staying true to my personal style. Our home very much has a bohemian vibe and I wanted to carry that into our holiday decorations with some DIY tassels, natural wooden accents, and anything rattan or woven. Keep reading to see how everything turned on this year with links to shop some of the items!

Pre-lit flocked tree
We got our 7 ft tree for a great deal at Big Lots a few years ago, so I suggest looking there if you’re in search of a new one. I’m a big fan of flocked trees because it’s overall a lighter shade than the standard un-flocked green trees, but not as light as a solid white tree. The “snow” helps brighten it up while still being a classic green “natural” tree. Pre-lit is always the way to go too because all you have to do is plug it in and you never have to worry about untangling lights.

Wooden bead garland
This is the first time we’ve put any kind of garland to our tree and I think it adds so much! Wooden beads are a constant throughout our house, so having it on our tree too really ties everything in. These can really vary in price, so I did some shopping around before purchasing ours to make sure I was getting a good deal. I got two strands from Joann’s when they were on sale!

Homemade tassels
I started making tassels almost four years ago when Justin and I were preparing to move into our first apartment together. I made a tassel wall hanging with twine and different shades of yarn to hang above our bed, and I’ve loved incorporating them as home decor ever since! They’re the perfect boho accent and are inexpensive to make. I knew I wanted to make a bunch in different coordinating colors for our tree this year to add some texture and I couldn’t be happier with the results! I went with a warm-toned brown, pink and cream. The layered ones are my favorite!

Classic round ornaments
When shopping for ornaments for our first tree a few years ago, I had the forethought of selecting ornaments that could be mixed and matched in different ways for years to come if we ever wanted to change up the way we decorate our tree year to year without having to buy all new ornaments. I bought a pack of mixed metal-colored classic round ornaments (silver, gold and bronze/copper) knowing they’d match whatever theme we could ever want. I’ve used all three colors in the past, but I left all of the silver ones off this year to stick with warmer tones this year.

Woven tree collar
I wanted one of these so bad last year, but it was sold out at Target and we couldn’t get our hands on one before we got our tree up. Funny enough, this one is the exact same brand and material of the basket I bought from Target last year that I tried to rig to be a tree collar (it didn’t work). I love the look of it so much for than a classic tree skirt and I think it’s the perfect finishing touch.

Quick list for reference:

We’ve added a few other decor items since I took these photos last weekend, including a white macrame-inspired stocking for Lucia (we got it at HomeGoods yesterday), and a giant nutcracker and wreath for our front porch — I’ll share those on my Instagram story if I haven’t already! I hope you enjoyed seeing all of our Christmas decor & enjoy the rest of your holiday weekend!
