If you find yourself with too much too do, too much stuff, a plethora of unnecessary stress, disorganization and overall chaos, it may be time to step back and make some changes to simplify your life and clean your mind. Taking away the excess and what no longer serves you and makes you better is key for decluttering your life. Here are some simple ways to cleanse your space and mind and refocus on what is truly important.

Make time for yourself.
YOU are the most important person in your life. Give yourself the time and effort you need to regroup and grow. Without taking time to work on yourself, you can not fully give yourself to others. Set aside time to focus on your own needs. Reflect on your thoughts and pinpoint what elements need more attention for growth.

Declutter your space – and your life.
Clean space, clean mind. Rid yourself of things that are no longer serving you. If you have extras of items you will never use, donate them! Make your bed every morning. Tidy up your desk before you head home each day. Decluttering your life includes evaluating the people surrounding you as well. If there are people in your life that do not serve as a positive, supportive light and do not benefit your well-being, it may be time to close that door.

Avoid increasing your workload.
As humans, many of us struggle with telling people no. If someone asks you to do something that is beyond your capability and something you simply don’t have the time or effort to dedicate to, it’s okay to say no. It’s much more valuable and appreciated to say yes to things that you truly have the time and energy for vs. saying yes when you don’t have the necessary resources to give it the attention it deserves. People value honesty and would much rather be given your best self.

Pick up a creative outlet in your spare time.
Expressing your creativity serves as a de-stresser, a simple way to clear your mind of the week’s hardships and stresses. Not only will this soothe you, but it will also get your creative juices flowing – pulling you out of a rut you may be in and inspiring you to think positively and expand your horizons. This will help you to refocus on what’s important.
