What to Wear in Summer 2018

What to Wear in Summer 2018

Happy Friday & June 1st! Summer hit Indiana in full force the last couple weeks with nearly 100 degree temperatures, humidity and lots of sun, leaving me SCRAMBLING to get my summer wardrobe together. Today I’m continuing my seasonal fashion trend series with what to wear in summer 2018, including everything from clothing pieces to accessories with links to shop them.

TUBE TOPS

What to Wear in Summer 2018

Hello 90s! I’m seeing tube tops everywhere right now and I want to give them a try so bad! I’ve always hated strapless pieces though so I’m not sure if this is going to be a trend for me, but I’d still like to give it a shot. These are great to pair with denim shorts and skirts, and are ideal for super hot days like we’ve been having in Indiana lately. Urban Outfitters had some cute ones last time I was there, so I’d check there! And if strapless things make you nervous, similar shaped tops with skinny spaghetti straps achieve the same look with a little extra security. Below are some of my favorites I found online.

JUMPSUITS

I have yet to purchase or even try on any of these because I fear that most styles won’t fit my tall frame, but I’m definitely intrigued. Like a dress, I love that jumpsuits are just one piece you can throw on and it’s instantly a complete outfit with zero effort, perfect for the days you aren’t feeling too creative with your look (this happens at least once or twice a week for me). I’m considering buying one in a tall from ASOS, and if I do, I’ll be sure to let you guys know what I think of it!

ESPADRILLES

I’m so happy espadrilles are back this season! These shoes flow effortlessly from day to night and pretty much match everything in my closet, which is a huge perk when I need to throw an outfit together. I have the nude $29 ASOS ones shown below that I shared on my Instagram story haul last week — I’m obsessed with them and highly recommend them!

LINEN

How pretty are these pieces?! Linen is a great fabric for summer because it’s so light and doesn’t cling to you whatsoever. I picked up a red and white polka dot linen dress from ASOS that I know I’m going to get a lot of wear out of this summer simply because it’s just so comfortable. If you’re looking to expand your wardrobe, I suggest throwing a couple linen dresses, skirts and pants into the mix.

SILK SCARVES

I mentioned this trend in my What to Wear in Spring 2018 post a few months back, but had to carry it over to summer too because they’re still so relevant. I love how much silk hair and neck ties can liven up the most basic of outfits, like denim shorts and a plain tee. I have yet to get my hands on more than one of these, but they’re definitely on my list! I’d love a black and white polka dot one and maybe a blush pink one like I’ve linked below. If you’re not a fan of wearing these quite yet, tie one onto your bag as a fun accessory.

RETRO SUNGLASSES

This may be my favorite trend of the season. I wasn’t sure about the retro sunglasses trend when they first started making a comeback (except round lenses — I’ve always loved those!), but now I’m super into them. I love that some 50s and 70s vibes have circled back around and are being sold everywhere right now. Statement sunglasses are such a fun and simple way to instantly look more fashion forward, so I suggest getting a pair or two of these!

What’s your favorite trend for summer 2018? Are there any you love that I didn’t include in this post? Let me know! If you enjoyed this post, you can check out all of my previous fashion trend posts here, which I find so fun to look back on to see how fashion has evolved over the last couple years. Thanks for reading & gave an great weekend!
